Local probate judges have suspended the issuing of  marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled late Tuesday the state’s ban on same-sex marriage is legal.

The state court’s order came despite a federal court’s ruling of the opposite opinion.

Lauderdale County Probate Judge James Hall said today no same-sex couples have sought a marriage license, but his office has “per the order,” suspended issuing the licenses.

Franklin County Probate Judge Barry Moore and Colbert County Probate Judge Daniel Rosser adopted the same stance.
